If you’re like many other parents of children
with special needs, you have a challenging task
ahead of you. You might wonder if you somehow
caused the problem, how you’ll pay for the recommended
treatment and if the treatment will really work.
You might wonder what you can do to help your
child and how to balance your child’s special
needs with those of the other family members.
You may need help to prioritize services or advocate
for your child in certain situations. You may
feel as if you’re the only parent in the world
facing these continuous challenges. Or, you might
worry about whether your child will ever be able
to live independently. The staff at the Cyzner
Institute wants to help.
We have expanded our parent coaching program.
Just as we have been able to customize your child’s
education, we will now be able to customize other
services for you as well through our Case Management,
Consulting Services, and Parent Coaching Program.
Please note that these services go beyond the
scope of quarterly progress reports and parent-teacher
routine correspondence and conferences. They are
available for any of our current clients, not
just those enrolled in the weekday program. These
services are also available to members of the
community who wish to partake in such services
at the institute.
Services offered
include but are not limited to:
- ABA home programs
- Reports and/or phone consultation with other
professionals and physicians involved in your
child’s care
- Emails to answer educational and clinical
questions that go beyond the scope of consultation
done post a 1:1 session or through daily correspondence
with your child’s weekday program teacher
- Attending meetings such as IEP meetings to
serve as an advocate or other team meetings
- Helping you prioritize and schedule therapies
and other interventions
- “Organization 101” – helping parents organize
afternoon time, calendars, children’s rooms
(desks, closets, etc.)
Home visits which can encompass a variety of
services depending upon the family’s needs such
as behavior management, setting up a play room,
creating greater mobility with increased safety
in your home, potty training, and working on feeding
issues (that are safe and appropriate for your
case manager to help you with – otherwise, this
may need to be done in conjunction with an occupational
therapist on staff).
