The Cyzner Institute Day School
offers a weekday school program for children of preschool
age through 6th grade. The program integrates education
with a rich therapeutic milieu resulting in a dynamic
learning environment. Our low student-to-teacher ratio
allows for a more differentiated learning program
for each child so that he or she can get the individualized
support needed to move along the continuum of development.
We work as a team with staff, parents, and other professionals
to customize programming to meet the needs of each
child. We monitor student progress closely, communicate
regularly with parents, and make adjustments to the
child’s program accordingly.
Our Students
Children come to the Cyzner Institute from both the
public and private sectors from various settings.
We have a diverse student body including those who
have been diagnosed with ADHD, autism spectrum disorders,
PDD, Asperger’s, OCD, language disorders, auditory
processing disorder, dyslexia, reading disorders,
written expression disorder, social skills delay,
and behavioral/emotional needs. Our ultimate goals
is to help students mainstream back into these public
or private settings with the skills they need to be
successful.
We understand that there may be some children, especially
in the lower school years, who may not be able to
tolerate certain programs for a variety of reasons.
If this need should arise, decisions regarding classroom
placement will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
We will use the evaluation process to help us determine
which program is the best fit for your child.
Please note that many children come to Cyzner Institute
with delays, including academic delays, and with what
we deem are gaps in their development—for a variety
of reasons. We make every effort to design and to
carry-out individualized programs for each student.
We try to provide just the right challenge to help
our students feel confident about learning without
feeling overwhelmed. We strive to meet the pre-academic
and academic standards that any other school would
uphold. However, given the nature of our student population
and the point at which they come to us in their physical,
emotional, and cognitive development, we cannot make
any guarantees. We cannot say with 100% certainty
that we will be able to close all gaps in development.
