Shane
Elks
Shane Elks is a graduate of the Musical Theater Program
of The American Musical and Dramatics Academy in NYC.
While studying in NYC, Shane served as mentor and
instructing performer as part of the education program
for such Broadway shows as RENT, Crazy for You and
On The Town. His continued studies led him to Classical
Voice training under the tutelage of instructors from
the Julliard School of Music with The New School of
NYC. Shane also received intensive instruction from
both Ariel Bybee and John Mack Ousley of The Metropolitan
Opera Company and with their guidance, served as a
featured workshop presenter at the NYU Tisch School
of Arts. Shane completed internships with the On-Stage
Director and Choral Master of The Metropolitan Opera
Company and has been a featured and choral performer
for major theater productions both on and off Broadway.
He has acted as principal performer for several professional
touring companies and has worked as a professional
performer in the Cabaret circuit for over 10 years.
For the past five years, Shane has worked in the Musical
Therapy field with assisted living and rehabilitation
centers in the greater Charlotte area. He recently
began The Elks Academy, which is a private performing
and visual arts academy for students of all levels
and abilities. Shane has a huge passion for Art Education
because he has observed first hand, both as instructor
and therapist, that art can break through many barriers
and help teach those who learn differently. He believes
that art in any manner can open minds and help individuals
express emotions not easily expressed. This knowledge
has lit a light inside Shane that he wishes to share
with all, and we are thrilled to have him on staff
at CI to share his talents with our children, families,
and community.
