Admissions Procedures
Initial Contact: Meet with the director to tour
the center and share information about our services
and your child's needs. If you have written medical,
health care or educationally related evaluations
on your child, please bring them with you for
the director to review. If the director determines
that our services may be appropriate for your
child, you will be given an application packet,
if you do not have one already. A date and time
for the evaluation for your child to work 1:1
with the director can be scheduled at this time
or you may call to set-up an appointment. This
step begins the admissions process.
Application
When you bring your child for the evaluation,
if you have not already returned the paperwork,
please give the director your completed application
and signed “Permission to Share Information” forms.
Please also bring a snack and a drink for your
child as well as any favorite toys, books, etc.
which are motivating for your child. Please also
be prepared to pay a fee. All fees are provided
in the Admissions Packet.

Evaluation
The director reviews any previous evaluations your
child may have had with other professionals and
works with your child one-to-one, observing his
or her specific skill development in different areas.
A variety of assessment tools are used depending
upon a child’s age, grade, and needs. Another staff
member may assist the director during the evaluation
process. The director meets with you briefly at
the conclusion of the evaluation for an interpretive.
After the visit, the director provides a written
report complete with observations and recommendations.
Specific services that we will deliver, costs, enrollment
agreement and starting dates are then reviewed.
If further occupational therapy or speech-language
therapy is recommended, dates for evaluations and
scheduling may also be discussed. To help you better
understand what your child is and will be experiencing,
and what you can expect to experience as a caring
parent, we will have presented you with a suggested
reading list in your admissions packet. Many of
our students’ parent have found the readings on
this list to be very helpful, and we hope you do
too.
