skills, we offer these services:

 |
| CI offers a variety of services, layers
of support and group activities all in one
place. Children develop pre-academic, academic,
and daily living skills in an intimate and
highly customized environment. Our educational
program is a supplement to, and in some cases,
an alternative to typical school. We work
closely with parents and other key professionals
to provide a coordinated response to your
family's specific needs in order to help the
children function as independently as possible
in everyday life. We work with children who
have been diagnosed with austism spectrum
disorders, pervasive developmental disorder,
Asperger's, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive
disorder, language disorders, auditory processing
disorder, reading disorders, written expression
disorders, social skills delay, and behavioral/emotional
needs. |

For preschool through kindergarten, this program consists
of small classes of three students and one teacher. There
is an assistant teacher for every six children. For 1st
through 5th grade, the classes typically consist of four
students and one teacher. There is an assistant for every
eight children. In the weekday school program, children
learn the essential developmental skills and/or academic
skills such as reading, handwriting, spelling, written
expression, math, social studies, science, and more advanced
language skills. They also learn to successfully interact
with each other as they build social skills throughout
the day including during snack time, lunch, and gross
motor play. Customized learning centers and a sensory
support program are integral parts of this program. Other
programs are available before and after school for all
ages to enhance students’ social and extracurricular experiences.
(Please see Our
Services – Weekday Program for more detail including
therapeutic interventions integrated into the school day,
hours of operation, and other programming.)
The goal of the Cyzner Institute is to help children build
key developmental and academic skills using highly customized
curricula and treatment approaches to meet the specific
needs of each child and family. As such, each child and
each child's family brings a diverse approach to working
with and raising a child with special needs. To maximize
and capitalize on this diversity, the CI Parent Resource
Group ("CPR") was founded. The purpose of the CI Parent
Resource Group is to 1) enhance communication amongst
parents of children attending CI, 2) provide a structure
to provide formal and informal education to all parents
with children with special needs and 3) facilitate parent
participation in the activities at the institute and participation
of the community (including parents of children not currently
at the institute) in sponsored events.
